The MAXICASTER back-end includes an advanced Content Management System as well as tools to create and manage versatile packages and services tailored to target subscribers. Channels, advanced network recording such as nPVR and Catch-up TV, VoD libraries and other content types can be easily bundled together to create compelling subscriber offers whilst ensuring content requirements and restrictions are tightly enforced. Advanced segmentation capabilities ensure services and campaigns reach the right users regardless of their location or preferred device.
Business rules can be established to link bundling and up-sell options to the core service based around specific usage criteria (i.e. offering a subscription-based sports package once a user watches a pre-determined number of football-related programs in a week). In the same way services and packages can be tied to specific time settings – ideal for establishing service packs around specific events.
Subscriber Management System
The MAXICASTER back-end environment incorporates a complete Subscriber Management System as part of the default design. Whilst this is ideal for Greenfield deployments the vast majority of Service Providers will have an existing SMS that they want to utilize for any new services. As a result, MAXICASTER also incorporates an open SMS API which simplifies rapid integration.
The SMS functionality covers both global settings (relating to the total subscriber base) and individual settings (defined to a specific customer group or individual subscriber). The MAXICASTER back-end console incorporates tools specifically targeted at Customer Service personnel to help identify and replicate and rectify faults or concerns. This functionality can either can used stand-alone or incorporated into a Service Providers existing Customer Care environment. This is represented in the Customer Dashboard view (see Customer Care tools for additional information).
Customer Care & Operations Tools
MAXICASTER incorporates a comprehensive set of tools specifically tailored for the requirements of Customer Care representatives. The tools are designed to provide an overview of the complete subscriber profile via an intuitive interface. Customer Care representatives have access to a Customer summary dashboard which covers all aspects of the subscription life cycle. From this environment Customer Care representatives can drill down into any specific aspect of the subscribers’ service and history.
The Customer dashboard provides a holistic view of all aspects relevant to the subscriber and their service history. Functionality and information available at fingertips of Customer Care includes:

MAXICASTER have developed encoding solutions to ensure optimised streaming of live and VoD content regardless of device or location. The MAXICASTER Live transcoder and MAXICASTER VoD (file) transcoders can be housed locally or in the cloud providing maximum operational flexibility. The MAXICASTER Live transcoder allows channels to be added as needed ensuring a cost effective approach. The VoD (file) transcoder handles upwards of 5,000 assets per server covering the majority of market requirements in a single unit.
Both transcoder types support the creation of multiple profile and provide Adaptive Bit rate delivery.
MAXICASTER VoD / nDVR Server
The MAXICASTER Media VoD / nDVR server incorporates complete VoD, nDVR and Catch-up functionality housed in a single, light weight server. The all-encompassing functionality ranks it amongst the most feature rich and scalable on the market. Each server includes storage, streaming, packaging, content protection and Private CDN functionality which significantly reduces the required hardware footprint to address thousands of assets and subscribers. The result is superior performance and scaling when compared to traditional stand-alone recording solutions.
MAXICASTER Live Streaming Server
The MAXICASTER Media Live Server handles all streaming, packaging, content protection and Private CDN functionality for the optimised delivery of linear (live TV) channels across devices. Each lite weight server can address up to 15,000 simultaneous subscribers making it extremely performant.
Private CDN functionality has been built into the software design of both the MAXICASTER Live and MAXICASTER VoD/nDVR servers. This functionality is automatically enabled as soon as 2 or more MAXICASTER Media services are deployed. Leveraging the hosted MAXICASTER back-end for channel management and load balancing and the local server environment for live streaming, packaging and caching, MAXICASTER Media provides state-of-art functionality which is both scalable and feature rich.
Traffic is cached and distributed between MAXICASTER Media servers, automatically re-distributing traffic between sites based on peaks and serving channels from the closest server to the specific request.
The result is a cost optimized on-net Private CDN capability offering significant cost savings when compared to the typical cost of building out an own CDN
